Mesa swimming
We took Mesa and Tiger swimming today. Tiger cracked us up trying to ’swim’. He didn’t do bad, but he was definitely skeptical of the water. I think if he’d go a few times he’d warm up to it. He was afraid, but he at least enjoyed the water. Mesa on the other hand had a great time. She didn’t have a life jacket so we weren’t sure how it would turn out….at first she didn’t like Owen (the dog swim coach) so I got in with her and she loved it! A very trusting kid!
Mesa’s road trip to GA
My parents were able to come to Oklahoma to pick up Mesa for us. It has been quite the few weeks having her cooped up. Although, not too bad as the last 2 Pastors seemed to like her. The Tunnells in Clovis even let her come over to their house each evening which was such a blessing for us in going to sleep. Anyway, the Lord allowed my parents to be able to come and see the work that the Lord is doing in Stillwater at Bible Baptist Church. They didn’t get to stay long, but we are so thankful they were able to help us out!
Update on Mesa
Many of you have asked about Mesa! She is doing well still. There is a little drag in her back right leg still where the car hit her. But other than that, she is doing extremely well! Thanks for asking and keep praying for more recovery. We continue to stretch and massage her leg and would like to see the nerve heal a little better.
Hilton Head
It’s been fun taking Mesa to the beach! Of course, this is only the 2nd time, but she really enjoyed it! We had a great time of fellowship with Pastor and Mrs. Barber too! It was quite the quick trip, but very profitable. The Barber’s church hosted a family “War” where we had several visiting families.
thought you’d like to see this pic
This, is a miracle! Thank you to those who have prayed for this!
Running with Mesa
We never dreamed that we’d be able to run with Mesa again, but the Lord is GOOD! Actually, GREAT! Mesa wears a boot on her right leg for when she drags it. We have ordered a Therapy boot that will hold her foot up while we are running. Since this picture was taken, however, I did a little too much too soon, so, we’ve backed off a bit and are walking her. We take turns. While Billy runs, I walk, then switch, etc. But we’re working toward finishing our run/walk program then….maybe…..on to a 5k???? We’ll keep you updated!
Mesa the Explorer
Bringing back vivid fond memories of my ‘exploring’ days, Mesa found a turtle. In the city no less. My turtle’s name was Wilbur and I remember watching him grow and grow. One day we painted him so we’d know who he was. He was killed by a car when I was in college, sad, huh? Of course, I had to release him when I was a little girl before leaving on a trip, but he stayed around. Mesa’s turtle did not stay around, but when she found him she was sooooo excited. She ran around Billy hopping until Billy went to see what the commotion was about. It was hard to get a ’still’ photo as Mesa would bark and bounce back from it. But here is what I did capture.
Our visit with Tracy (Mesa’s Therapist :)
Ha! Doesn’t that sound funny? But it’s true, this is who did Mesa’s therapy! Mesa LOVES Tracy. She was so disappointed when she didn’t see her in August at her last appointment. So, we returned for a visit. We hope to see Tracy again soon! Maybe she’ll ‘vacation’ with us somewhere in America….we’ve told her she could come anytime!
Our visit with Dr. Hettlich (and her family)
Our last visit (for 2009) went VERY well. We finally met her mom and sister! We love them much. They also had 3 friend from Germany with them that spoke NO English. Mesa was sooooo excited to see Dr. Hettlich (as were we). We had 2 delicious German desserts with coffee and home-made whipped cream. Very nice! I had picked up some German tracks from Ann Arbor while there and we were able to pass those along to them too. I was so excited to find something written in their language (although they speak great English). The friends seemed to enjoy them too.
