Update on Mesa

Mesa is doing VERY well.  Today she is in therapy again.  We have been told to let her walk around without her ‘onesie’ and that has been going well.  She is staggering a little  when she is tired, but for the most part really building up stamina.  Keep praying for complete healing of her nerves.   We were thrilled that Uncle Terry and Aunt Debbie were able to see progress while they were here.  It was a drastic improvement  between Tuesday and today, and for that, we are thankful!

Uncle Terry and Aunt Debbie

terrydebbieI still can’t believe that they were here :)   I am sad that they left this morning, but sooooo very thankful for their visit.  Many times in Evangelism I miss ‘home’ and ‘home’ is always family to me.  Wherever they are…..that’s home.   Of course, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE travelling, and home is where Billy, Mesa and my trailer is parked.  But I can’t help but miss my parents, sisters, grandparents, and my Aunt and Uncle!  We are a very close family and I am who I am because of their influence on my life.  I am thankful that God has given me such a Godly heritage.  Uncle Terry pastors in Cleveland, GA at Zion Hill Baptist Church.  If you ever travel through the North Georgia area, please take time to visit them (either in Gainesville at home OR at Zion Hill!)  They really would love to have you!

Surprises!

I LOVE surprises…and it’s not too often that I get them.  That’s sad, isn’t it?  Anyway, yesterday was the ultimate surprise.  There was a knock on my door, then when opened, there stood my favorite Aunt and Uncle (on my Dad’s side :) …Uncle Terry and Aunt Debbie!  What a surprise!  I had been longing to see them.  I even called Uncle Terry on Friday to see how they were doing and even asked “When are you coming to see me?”.  That turned out to be a joke….because they thought my Daddy had told me they were coming :)   Wow, I can’t tell you how much I LOVE surprises, but this one….takes the cake!

they came :)

Nona, James and Brandon came to church Sunday AM!  I was greatly encouraged.  James returned that evening and sat on the front row with Billy and me.  What a blessing and thanks for praying.  The services are going well and during the evening service, the teens gave testimonies to what the Lord has done in their hearts.  Please keep praying for Glenford.  Friend day is coming up in August!

Billy’s home!

2:30 AM….that’s when he arrived!  We were so glad to have him home!  We also stayed up until 4:30 catching up on the great news from camp.  What a wonderful week for him and there were several great decisions made.  He’s even received some sweet emails and letters since he’s arrived back!  Several of those great decisions were from teens here at Maranatha in Glenford, so, please pray that the testimonies will affect the entire church!  Thanks for praying!

Glenford update….

This morning a lady stopped by at 6:45am while I was preparing for my trip to Columbus….she asked what time the services were on Sunday!  Her son just trusted Christ last week at a different church while he was on vacation…and she just wanted to bring him Sunday.  I asked if I could come by and visit them in their home, but she made it clear that this was for her son James!  But she’s coming Sunday with him! PRAISE THE LORD.  And we have often wondered why people aren’t just stopping us on the street and asking us, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”  The people here at Maranatha are responding to truth and God is blessing!  It’s been an interesting journey.  Many have had things happen to them (broken arms, sickness, Mesa, etc), there has been a funeral, excuses ‘revealed’…so God is working and they are being exposed!  Praise the Lord.  Please keep praying that the Heaven’s will be “RENDED!”

off to camp……

This coming week, Billy is off to Camp Wildwood.  I’m sad because I won’t be able to go with him.  He had a wonderful time last year while there, but was looking forward to being with him this time.  Anyway, please pray for him as he will be preaching several services (which was approx. 20 messages last year).  Please pray for his health!  Also, pray for Mesa and me as we will stay behind in Glenford.  I’ll take her to therepy and try to get several things done at the trailer.

Why do we like NASCAR?

gibbsOk, back to frequent questions asked!  When I married Billy, his mom and Mamaw would sit and watch Nascar.  But what they were really doing was quite uninteresting (at the time)…they would be watching, but listening to the radio and also had the computer going listening to ‘in-car’ audio of their favorite drivers.  We were not interested at the time, but as time went on, we thought if we couldn’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!  So, Billy started watching a little and asked several questions.  At the same time, a Pastor gave Billy Coach Joe Gibbs’ autobiography which I ended up reading.  After reading the introduction, I was hooked.  The details of racing were presented in such a way that I couldn’t even put the book down.  I learned about ‘why’ they raced, ‘how’ they raced and the point system and strategies that each racing team goes through.  But even more exciting is Mr. Gibbs personal Salvation testimony.  Of course, his life story is quite impressive, but his testimony is clearer than any other ‘high’ profile figure that I’ve ever heard.  So, now, when asked who’s my driver? I answer “Anyone driving for Joe Gibbs Racing. ”  It matters not who the driver is, I just know that there is no vulgar advertising or alcoholic beverage logos on any of the cars.  Recently Mr. Gibbs prayed before the Allstar race where he gave a salvation presentation in his prayer.  So, why do we like Nascar?  It’s an interesting sport.  We have had the privilege to attend a couple of races and the thrill of speed and smell are such an intricate part of the sport.  We enjoy it! (I have to mention that Billy is a Hendrick fan….I didn’t want to write that, but since this is a ‘family’ update, it’s just part of the idea :)   So, to check out my team go to the following:  www.joegibbsracing.com

A relaxing visit

mamaw-with-kids
We have had a wonderful time this week with family.  Here pictured is Mamaw and the ‘kids’.  The weather was perfect for us sitting outside and enjoying the day.  We went to the Cheesecake Factory in Columbus for Mom’s birthday.  We took Mesa to therapy Tues. and Thurs., so, it was a nice place for our outings.  We just had a nice relaxing visit.  What a blessing.
