OHIO AGAIN

Lighthouse Baptist Church, the VERY first host to our VERY first week-long meeting!  What a blessing and honor to return almost 7 years later. We are quite humbled by what the Lord has done in our lives since the beginning of this ministry.  It’s a blessing to be with our friends (the DeLeon’s) again!  The Lord has truly blessed them with 8 children (well behaved, I might add) and with a sweet church.  Praise the Lord for FIRSTS and Praise the Lord for allowing us to still be serving Him!

Surprise, surprise, surprise

Gomer Pyle used to say that…remember?  Ok, maybe some people don’t, but it’s funny anyway, trust me. Last week Billy was asked to preach an ordination for a dear friend of ours, Matt Davis, from Crooked Creek Baptist Church.  So, we made a surprise visit to each of our families!  What fun!!!  Billy’s mom and grandmother didn’t think it was very funny…probably because when Billy knocked on the door he covered the ‘peep’ hole.  Ok, that wasn’t very nice, but we still surprised them.  My parents were surprised too.  My mom was home from church (because of an injury) and Billy let Mesa in the door to greet her…FUNNY!  She wasn’t really sure what to think…she knew it was Mesa, but ‘Mesa didn’t walk that good and Mesa shouldn’t be in Georgia…hmmm..who is this dog?’ When she looked up, there we were!  When my dad got home from church, Billy and I hid and let Mesa greet him at the door..  He was SHOCKED!  It’s rare we get to surprise any of our family and we were just as excited to spend some time with them.  We were able to stop and see Mom and Dad Childs too.  What a special time (we didn’t surprise them…as we didn’t want to be surprised and them not be there :)

To pray or to not pray

Funny that people don’t know if they should pray for dogs or not.  But don’t you pray for rain? We were often hesitant in asking people to pray for Mesa during this trial, but the thought occured to us…why NOT pray for dogs?  If the Lord tells us to pray for ALL things (Mark 11:24; Phil 4) doesn’t that include things that breathe? Wait, rain doesn’t breathe but how often I hear people praying for rain.  In fact, Govenor Sonny Perdue asked the entire state of Georgia to pray for rain.  If God is concerned about rain, grass or birds (Matt 6) ,….He’s certainly concerned about a dog that He created and most certainly, He’s concerned about us and all our concerns.

we mean EVERY day improvement

For the last several weeks Mesa has stood on her knuckles (back right leg) and we have had to manually place her foot on her pads.  Today, she placed it herself.  We even tested it (thinking it to good to be true) and turned her foot back to its knuckle and in 2 seconds she had placed it on her paw…by herself.  We are rejoicing in this huge blessing!

Improvement every day

So, we’re pretty sure that Mesa understands EVERYTHING that’s said around her.  For 8 weeks we’ve been able to keep her calm (for the most part) and for 8 weeks she’s been very submissive.  But we’re pretty sure that she understood when Dr. Hettlich said she could resume ‘Normal’ activities.  Because, the very next day, Mesa was trying to jump up on everything.  She actually made it up on the bed too. We’re still trying to ‘take it easy’ with her as any great cautious parent should be after major surgery, but she’s not making it easy :)   When we let her off the leash for the first time, she was sooooo excited that she took off across the field PERFECTLY.  No bobbing.  There was a little side running action going on, but NO stumbling at all!  We are thrilled.

…all the time, the Lord is good!

Again and again I hear the Fijians say this.  Over and over I learn this truth.  This time, it’s regarding Mesa’s final report on Friday, August 14.  Can you believe that we made it to the end of 8 weeks? Unbelievable!  Mesa’s x rays compared to the initial take were PERFECT!  Now, Mesa was a little ugly to the staff and we are not happy about that at all, but she made it through the day and for that, we are thankful.  She still has a slight deficit in her right hind leg, but we are still praying for a miracle!  We would like to see the Lord completely heal her.  She is doing well (now) as she had a rough couple of days after her office visit. Please pray with us about that leg!

Keep Praying

Today is the last day of Mesa’s therapy before her release.  We’ve had a ’setback’ of stiffness and being very tired, but Mesa is doing really well otherwise.  They are still thrilled with her progress.  We are too, but nervous as there are still many unknowns.  Her final appointment is August 14 where they will give her anesthesia and take final x rays to compare to the initial ones.  Dr. Hettlich has been able to keep tabs on Mesa’s progress all along and is very excited to see those x rays.  We are specifically praying the Lord would heal the nerves!  We also are praying that she’ll stay infection free. (this plays a part in her pins and implant).  Please KEEP PRAYING!
