God came down in manifest presence and power

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

This was my third year returning to Wildwood Christian Camp, directed by Brother Allen Marshall, and perhaps the best year so far.  http://www.wildwoodchristianretreat.org/

With each visit to this ministry, my burden for both the camp and Brother Marshall increase.  I appreciate so much the stands taken and the heart of the leadership as well as the counsellors to really see and allow the Lord to work.  All of this has culminated into a great preaching atmosphere.  I have never lacked liberty in preaching at Wildwood and I certainly never take that for granted either.

It was a great blessing to have several new churches attend for their first time this year.  This was one of the fullest weeks in the past several years.  The teens were very responsive from the very start, but on Thursday night was when the dam broke.  For a couple of hours after the message was over, the teens were giving testimony with tears of God’s reviving work within their lives.  A number called home to parents and even their pastors.  It has been a thrill to receive reports within the last couple of days of the great services that were held on Sunday and further reports of teens still getting right as a result of the Spirit’s work of revival in their lives.

I’m looking forward to returning for the fourth year next year (2011) if the Lord wills!

I also am looking forward to the Men’s Retreat at Wildwood in September.  If you are not already planning on coming, please consider attending.  This is a great men’s outing with plenty of sportsmen opportunities for shooting and enjoying the great outdoors in the WV mountains.  http://www.wildwoodchristianretreat.org/

TWO WEEK MEETING in Clovis NM

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Westbrook Baptist Church is not only a blessing in the greatest way to us but is a home away from home for us.  Pastor Furgus Tunnell has been doing an outstanding work for the Lord in Clovis New Mexico.  He has a heart for the Lord and the Lord’s people and wants to see revival in his church!  Pastor Tunnell definitely stepped outside the “ministerial box” this year by calling his people to a TWO WEEK MEETING!

The people of Westbrook were faithful to the Lord by coming for two straight weeks and responding in sensitivity and sincerity to the Lord.  After enduring two weeks of my preaching, about 25 or so were gracious enough to drive an hour and a half to Lubbock Texas, the very next week for the final service of that revival meeting.

Our time in Clovis went by way too fast.  We looked forward to this meeting and the fellowship with the Tunnells with great anticipation. The Tunnell’s are very dear friends and mean the world to us.  They have been a great help and blessing to Christy and I both personally and in ministry.

20 Adults Saved in the Morning Service

Monday, April 19th, 2010

This Sunday (April 18th) I preached in Cleveland Ohio, for Pastor Kevin Folger of Cleveland Baptist Church. (Pastor Folger is in Lancaster CA preaching for Paul Chappell.)

I preached a 35 minute message on the Necessity of the New Birth from John 3, gave the invitation and around 25 adults responded on the first stanza. Twenty of these adults made clear and definite decisions to be saved. Each of these individuals were personally dealt with. The vast majority of these were first time visitors.

There was great rejoicing from these new converts, the church and the Lord Jesus this morning!

“I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ it is the power of God unto salvation . . .” (Rom. 1:16)

Crooked Creek Baptist Church, Athens GA

Monday, March 8th, 2010

What a church and what a meeting! This church has had a special place in mine and Christy’s life and ministry. How we love and appreciate them dearly.

This was our third Sunday to Sunday meeting we have had with Pastor Tom Miles and the great people of Crooked Creek. Our first meeting was a true church wide revival and Crooked Creek has not been the same since.

This too was a good meeting with great responses from the people that has allowed them to go further down the road of revival. Sermons from this particular meeting can be found at http://www.crookedcreekbaptistchurch.org/February2010RevivalSermons.html

Here are some testimonys from the meeting:

Associate Pastor Matt Davis:
We just closed out a great week of revival services with Brother Ingram andare grateful for the Lord’s working in our midst. This meeting had been
bathed in much prayer and God did not disappoint! From our perspective the meeting wasn’t as much about Brother Billy preaching to lost people (though some were present and one profession of faith was made) but about God’s people, starting with the leadership, fulfilling God’s desire for “truth in the inward parts” (Psalm 51:6) so that we could be brought back to normal Christianity. I believe we witnessed that from the top down! Serious business was conducted between saints and their God every night and the altars were always full. There were several extended testimony times and it was clear that many people either took “exchanged life” truth to heart for the first time or realized that they had drifted back into flesh dependence. Many people claimed the complete and total victory that we have in Christ.

As mentioned above there was not a focus on the lost as much as in past revival meetings. We didn’t even have a friend day! The Pastor felt that every Sunday would become friend day once the saints were fully revived – something we are anxiously looking forward to this first Sunday after the conclusion of the meeting. We believe that God is only starting the mighty movement of His Spirit in this area and are grateful that He used Brother Billy to teach, preach, and remind us of the great revival truths of Scripture.

Another testimony from a young man who was helped in a specific and special way in the same meeeting:

In 2007 I surrendered to the call to preach, about two years later I also surrendered to go to the mission field. Having grown up in a christian home, I always went to church. However, from the time that I was very young I have struggled in the arena of of lustful thoughts. I was introduced to pornography at the age of about 14 yrs old. After a period of time, I would always get caught by my parents and would ask for forgiveness, and would stay clean of it for a while. But then it would slowly creep back in. On one occasion after getting caught I finally thought that I was able to stop looking at pornography and find freedom from it at last. However, I found myself loosing the the battle shortly before Christmas of 09.

I struggled with this sin until about two weeks before Bro. Ingram came to our church to preach Revival. Each time as I struggled with this sin, I would immediately ask the Lord to forgive me and take it away. Thinking that I had dealt with the sin, I figured that it was a done deal. But I was wrong! The Bible says in Pro 28:13 “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

On Mon night of the revival meeting, Bro. Ingram preached on having fallow ground and the Lord convicted me that even though I seemingly confessed
my sin to Him, I was still hiding my sin and I WOULD NOT prosper unless I deal with my sin entirely.

After the service, I went to Brother Ingram who advised that I go to my authorities. I went to my Pastor and then to my parents – - and the Lord showed me mercy. I felt like a 500 pound weight was lifted off of my shoulders.

Before I was trying to do it on my own, in my own strength, but I had to realize that I have to became weak and depend on Christ to fight my battles for me. And since that day the Lord is continually giving me victory in the area of lustful thoughts and Pornography.

Another Testimony:

Before the revival meeting with Brother Ingram, I had found myself very discouraged in my christian walk, due to some recent circumstances and because I was trying to serve God in my own strength. I had become tired of trying to do what was right and was just doing what I wanted without seeking God.

. . . The Lord really spoke to me in the message “Getting Numb to the Things of God” . . . I realized I was becoming numb to God and it was miserable not being right with Him. I new I had to surrender my life to the Lord daily and rely on His strength to serve Him. The Lord has since been much more real to me, I know that I don’t have to worry about things in the future because I can trust Him and do His will.
I have had more victory over sin as I rely on Him to over come temptation rather than attempting it in my own strength.

The preaching of Brother Ingram is a real blessing and I still enjoy relistening to the sermons.

Loganville, GA

Calvary Baptist Church, Loganville GA, Pastor Les Powell.

This was our first meeting with the people of Calvary Baptist Church. What a blessing they were to us. I feel that Pastor and Mrs. Powell are going to be life long friends! The people were so responsive to truth and the preaching of the Word.

Unfortunately, Christy and I both got sick on Tuesday of the meeting and seemingly got worse as the days progressed. Christy was really struggling with a high fever for five straight days and unable to eat anything for three days. I preached each night with about a 100 degree temperature. After the meeting concluded we went to the doctor to discover that we had gotten the H1N1.

The Pastor and the people were very understanding. We had some of the best chicken noodle soup provided us (from the Helms) which helped tremendously.

We are scheduled to return and look forward to going back …healthier.

Zion Hill Baptist Church, Cleveland GA

Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cleveland Ga is not only one of our supporting churches but is also pastored by Christy’s uncle, Terry Poole.

The Lord led me to preach in the morning service on Three Ways

Nassau, Bahamas

Monday, January 4th, 2010

This was our third trip to the Bahamas for revival meetings.  This year, we had a week of meetings in the Christian High School, preaching to almost 500 teenagers each day for five days.  We were with Pastor Howard Mills who pastors Baptist Bible Church and Brother Issacs who is the Principal of Nassau Christian School.  These men love God and Bible preaching.

Praise the Lord for nearly 50 teens who trusted Christ as their personal Saviour and several hundred that also responded to call to absolute surrender!

Kingwood, WV

This was our first meeting with Pastor Cumberland and a good week. Pastor and Mrs. Cumberland are some of the finest people with a spirit of serving and excellence. Christy and I refreshed and encouraged with the ministry of the Cumberlands. We felt that we made friends for life! We are looking forward to returning September 2010.

Chesapeake, VA

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

It was a great privilege to get acquainted with a new church, Temple Baptist Church in Chesapeake VA but reacquainted with old friends, Pastor and Mrs. Jim Rushing Jr.

Our meeting this past October was our third meeting with the Rushings but our first with him in his new ministry and his first Revival meeting in his new ministry also.  The Lord truly blessed!  Our opening Sunday morning service was attended with a packed house.  Six adults walked the aisle for salvation.  One gentleman was 74 years of age.  Not only did he get saved, but along with other new converts, he continued to attend the meetings and pursue baptism and Church membership.  Praise the Lord!  The nightly attendance continued to increase even surpassing Sunday night’s total.  The Assistant Pastor stated that this was the highest attended Revival meeting by 20% of any meeting during his twenty year tenure there as the assistant.  Every night the altar was full and the people were so very responsive to Bible truth.  We also had a music man and his family, the Robertson family with us.  It created a helpful dynamic that seemed to boost the meetings and encourage the people.  This provided a “Revival Choir” where the people could get involved.  It was a blessing.
